Alan Kaplan Plays the Arrangements of Jacob Collier
I first became aware of Jacob Collier when I saw his Moon River video on YouTube. I was totally blown away and became a superfan. When I happened upon the transcript June Lee made of it, I decided it would be a fun thing to try on trombone. After having made two overdub albums of music from Hoyt’s garage I was interested in doing something different and unique. This fit the bill beautifully. Meet the Flintstones was my next endeavor. After that I decided to look for more transcriptions so it could be an entire album of his material.
For this project I used 6 different small tenor trombones, 3 large bore tenor trombones, 2 bass trombones, and my contrabass trombone. I used AR Resonance mouthpieces on all of them.
This was recorded on ProTools with 2 RCA 44BX microphones.
